4

People of Asia for Climate Solutions (PACS) celebrates the Philippines’ recent recognition as the second most attractive emerging market for renewable energy investment in BloombergNEF’s 2024 Climatescope Report. This impressive leap from 20th place in 2021 to fourth in 2023, and now second, highlights the nation’s substantial progress in advancing renewable energy solutions and driving the region’s transition to clean energy.

PACS, a leading advocacy group focused on climate action and sustainable development across Asia, views this achievement as a testament to the country’s commitment to transforming its energy landscape. With the Philippines taking bold steps through progressive policies, the country is not only attracting domestic investments but also positioning itself as a leader for foreign capital in renewable energy projects.

“For years, PACS has worked with local communities, governments, and industry leaders to build a robust framework for renewable energy development in Asia,” said PACS Executive Director Xiaojun Wang. “The Philippines’ rise in the Climatescope rankings is a direct reflection of this collective work, demonstrating the tangible impact of progressive energy policies and a commitment to a sustainable, inclusive future.”

Looking forward, PACS recognizes the critical need to further accelerate renewable energy adoption, as the Philippines’ energy demand continues to rise with its growing economy. With the government’s target of 35% renewable energy in the national power mix by 2030, PACS continues to collaborate with partners to support the scaling of solar, wind, and hydroelectric projects.

PACS remains committed to advancing climate solutions that not only benefit the Philippines but serve as a scalable model for the broader Asia-Pacific region. As the world’s second most attractive market for renewable energy, the Philippines’ journey toward a sustainable future is just beginning, and PACS is proud to be part of this transformative movement.
